This is a typical south Indian brekfast sidedish,Tomato Kurma.This is an aromatic and flavourful dish . It goes well with Crispy Dosas / Hot Idlis. Even as a sidedish for Chapati or pulao, it tastes great .Its very simple to make and delicious.My mom makes this dish quite often and I love it more.You too try this ,it will become your favourite sidedish .Here is the wonderful recipe…..
Ingredients
Tomato –3 chopped
Onion – 1 chopped
Garlic Pods – 3 sliced
Turmeric powder / Manjal Thool – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder / Milagu Thool – 1 tsp
Coriander Powder / kothamalli Thool - 2 tsp
Cinnamon /Pattai – 3 small pieces
Fennel seeds / Sombu / Perunjeeragam – 1 tsp
Star anise / AnnasiPoo – 1
Greenchillies – 2
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Cilantro / Kothamalli ilai – a handful chopped
Oil – 2 tsp
Salt as needed
For grinding
Coonout – 2 pieces (if grated 1 cup)
Fennel seeds / Sombu / Perunjeeragam – 1 tsp
Roasted Gram / Pottukadalai - 1 tsp
Preparation
Take the ingredients for grinding in a mixture and grind it in to a fine paste.
Tranfser it to a bowl and add the turmeric powder , chilli powder and coriander powder and add two cups of water and mix well and keep it aside.
Grab your ingredients and chop them finely.
Heat oil in a kadai and add cinnamon, star anise and fennel seeds.Add the curry leaves and asafoetida and fry for a min.Add the sliced garlic, onion and green chillies and fry for few mins.
Add the tomaotes and fry till mushy.
Now pour the grounded mixture and add the required salt.And let it boil for 10 mins
And keep the stove in medium flame and allow it to boil for another 10 mins .Now add the chopped corriander leaves and swith off.
And serve it with Dosa or Idli.
