This is one of my all time favourite curry.Any recipe that includes paneer makes that dish awesome. One cool thing about paneer is it nicely blends with any type of masala and gives a wonderful taste.I like to add kasoori methi powder in all my paneer dishes as it gives a fantastic aroma.Usually children love paneer but my kid hate it although I will make it twice a month as my hubby and me love it.Its a good dish to be made at parties or any festive occassions.Try this curry ….yoy’ll love it for sure….
Ingredients
Paneer – 200 gms
Onion – 2 finely chooped
Tomatoes – 3 pureed
Green Chillies – 2 chopped
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Garam masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
kasoori methi powder – 1 tsp
Milk – 1 cup or 100 ml
Coriander leaves – 2 tsp chopped for garnishing
Salt to taste
For Tempering
Oil / Butter – 1 tbsp
Cinnamon / Pattai – 1 small piece
Star anise / Annasi poo - 1
Cardamom / Elachi – 1
Cloves / Kirambu – 1
Bay leaves / Briyani Ilai – 2
Preparation
Take all your ingredients ready.Cut the paneer in to cubes and shallow fry in oil for 2 mins and pat it in a tissue paper to remove excess oil and soak it in hot water till use.
Heat oil in a pan and add the tempering ingredients and fry for a min.
Add the chopped onoin and fry till transparent .Add the ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
Add the tomato puree and mix well.
Bring the gravy to boil.Reduce the heat and let it boil till the raw smell of the tomato goes off and the curry is reduced a little and the onions turns soft .Add a little water if you find it thick .It will take app 15 – 20 mins.
Now add the dry masala powders (turmeric , coriander , garam masala and chilli ) and mix well
Add the kasoori methi powder and required salt and mix well.
.And throw in the fried paneer pieces and mix well.
Now pour in the milk and make it boil for few more mins .And garnish with chopped coriander leaves .
Enjoy the curry with Rotis / Parathas.
Notes:
I didn’t add chilli powder as my green chilly is very hot if you like you can add.
